Legend had it that any maiden brave enough to kiss Darkness would have her dreams fulfilled.  Or, perhaps, find her death instead.  The trick, it was said, was to come upon him in his man form.
 
Genevieve wasn’t inclined to believe in nonsensical fairytales, but in this case, her heart’s desire was so far from her grasp, and she wanted it so desperately, that it began to seem reasonable to take the risk.
 
Darkness was baffled but intrigued when the beautiful maiden showed up on his doorstep demanding to be kissed.  He assured her he would be happy to oblige—as long as he chose the spot.
