This is a work of fiction. All characters, events, and places are of the author’s imagination and not to be confused with fact. Any resemblance to living persons or events is merely coincidence.
Her thoughts returned to the map she held. She had looked upon it nightly for so long it had become a habit. It always led to the same dream. Finding whatever lay at the end of the map and if God was kind, it would be enough to provide her with a little plot of land in the New World.
“It must be a nice place, where you’re thinking of.” Feirgh interrupted her thoughts.
“It is.” Cynthia put the map on the large heavy desk. “No pirates.” She turned to him with a grin.
“And you lay claim to the fiercest name ever spoken on the seas.” Feirgh crossed his arms and leaned on the wall on one shoulder. He raised an eyebrow at her.
“At least your crew won’t lynch me.” She shrugged.
Feirgh laughed as he straightened and invited her to sit in one of the overstuffed chairs. Her skirt swirled around the bottom of her feet revealing a glimpse of her delicate ankle. It was enough to fuel his imagination.
Cynthia recognized the look flashing in Feirgh’s dark brown eyes. It reflected her own attraction to him. She took the seat ignoring the scent of his sandalwood musk and the effect it was having on her.
“You needn’t worry about the crew.” He busied himself with building the fire in the small stove.
“Oh, I’m not worried about it.” She reassured him. “I think they will just need a bit of time.”
She glanced over at him through her lashes. He was a fine specimen of a man. Broad shoulders that cut a fine line in his long leather coat, dark broody handsome looks without the arrogance, and an intelligent gleam in his dark brown eyes.
Feirgh saw the look of hunger when he glanced towards her. She did not blush and turn away as a woman should; instead Cynthia smiled up at him with a wicked expression. This boldness intrigued Feirgh who suddenly found himself with the vision of her naked body beneath him.
“My dear Lady Longblades, you are unique to your species.” He could not hide his amusement.
“Why?” Cynthia tilted her chin up. “Because I do not become shy when casting my appreciation upon a fine specimen of the male species.” She straightened her back. “My dear Captain, you may find I am unique because I am old enough to choose wisely and still young enough to enjoy my choices.” She gave a little sniff, “You have bedded too many girls and nary a woman.”
Feirgh laughed. “Perhaps I will have to rethink my scoundrel ways.”
