I've written romance stories for nearly seven years, since I began a story outline for my favorite science fiction author. By the time I'd reached ninety pages, my DH asked why I didn't write the story for myself. I told him they weren't my characters, but he asked why I couldn't change the characters enough to make them my own.

Well, duh. That seemed a no-brainer. I'd been altering TV show endings for decades because I felt they should have ended differently. And I'd been writing entirely new episodes of my favorite shows in my head. I could do this.

150,000 words and four months later, I'd finished my first manuscript. Eleven stories later, I'm still writing and loving every minute of it.
