Sensual Romance Reviews

OUR REVIEW PHILOSOPHY:
The purpose of reviews from SR is to help readers select books that will meet their own tastes. Every book has its audience -- the reviewer's job is to help the right readers find that book.

REVIEW GUIDELINES:
Books submitted to Sensual Romance for review must meet the following guidelines:

1. They must be published (or have an established publication date); can be print or e-published. We do not review unpublished manuscripts. An ISBN must be on the book (except for those e-publishers who have notified us that they are not using ISBNs).

2. They must fall within the "sensual romance" definition: "Sensual Romance books are about the spicier side of romance, the romantic element of indulgence in sexual pleasure, including sexual fantasy and games, passionate activities that are just a little bit naughty. In erotic literature, we focus on the softer side, the romantic erotica." Sub-genre or cross-genre stories such as paranormal romance or romantic suspense are fine and very popular with our users, but they should be "sensual" in nature. "Sweets" and "inspirationals" are unlikely to fit within our category.

3. We are tolerant of a wide array of sexual tastes and practices. However, we will not accept for review stories that advocate or condone sex with minors, non-consensual sex, long-term bdsm (such as slave scenarios), or physical torture. Stories may contain these elements (for example, romances where a character has suffered from abuse or rape in the past), but these acts must not be presented in a positive or approving light.
We do not review books that fall into our definition of pornography. We review "romances" -- even if there is explicit sex, the focus of the story should be on the development of an emotional relationship, not merely on sex acts.

REVIEW PROCESS:

~ All SR reviewers are volunteers. Every 6 to 8 weeks, they are sent a list (and blurbs) of the books available for review. Our volunteer reviewers select the books they are interested in and that they can fit into their schedule. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that your book will be reviewed; unfortunately, a few books sent to us do not get reviewed, despite our best intentions. However, it does mean that reviewers are selecting books they are most likely to enjoy and give positive reviews.

~ We encourage multiple reviews, to give readers diverse opinions on a book. So if you submit a book by electronic file, it may be sent to more than one reviewer.

~ The purpose of reviews from SR is to help readers select books that will meet their own tastes. Every book has its audience -- the reviewer's job is to help the right readers find that book. We do not guarantee positive reviews. Reviewers are free to indicate that they did not like a book, as long they explain why. We do not allow author bashing; reviews must focus on the story (plot, characterization, believability, pacing, writing style, and so forth).

~ It can take anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks after submission for a book to be reviewed. We do try to get to soon-to-be-released books promptly. Unless otherwise requested by the author or publisher, reviews are not posted more than six weeks in advance of book publication.

~ Reviews are posted to both the Sensual Romance Reviews website and to the SR discussion list (on YahooGroups).

~ Authors and publishers are sent email notification when a review of their book is posted IF we have the appropriate email addresses readily available. (Authors are encouraged to submit information for an author page on the Sensual Romance Reviews website.)

Review books can be submitted as either paper copy or electronic file (.pdf or .doc work best). Our preference for books that will be published in print format is to have one printed copy and an electronic copy, if available.
(Note: Our privacy policy is that we do not give out the mailing addresses of our reviewers. All review books are sent to the Managing Editor, who will forward them on to appropriate reviewers.)
