Creative Juices Exploding!

Have you ever had a day or time when your creative mind was just exploding with ideas? I used to do this regularly...when I wrote more consistently.:)

I used to get so many ideas for stories that I had to stop myself from thinking of more. That's easier said than done. Truely. But I would try to tamp down on this so I could sleep at night!!

Lately, I've been into a horror faze. I've been reading a lot of zombie fiction the last few years. I got into before The Walking Dead, but Ok, I'm a huge fan of this series.

I started my own zombie novel some months ago, working on it slowly. I recently had my 1st horror story published in Cavalcade of Terror Anthology, but the book was cancelled due to Undead Press's mishandling of one author's work. Bummer. Anyhoo, I've been shopping for a new home for the story.

Looking around at all the horror markets has got my writing juices pumped. I found a potential home for "Better Than Candy" that I hope works out. Then I started noticing publishers looking for "flash fiction". I thought, what an interesting idea. Then I came up with a cool really short story - less than 1,000 for flash fiction.

Next, I ran across a publisher who is looking for "survival stories" after the zombies rise. Very cool. Came up with another good little story. That was 2 stories in one day! Then the next day another idea came to me for a really sweet zombie story. I know sounds inconceivable, but it is possible.:)

I am very happy that my mind seems to be working on all firing engines for a change. Romance fans don't despair, I'm not giving up on writing romance. Sometimes I think it is good for authors to write in a different genre, to clear their mind so to speak. To come back with a fresh love and perhaps perspective. I am sure most, if not all authors experience the same explosions in creative thinking and writing. I'd love to hear from my fellow NCP authors. What gets your creative juices going?

Love's Captive is out and with a new look!!

Wow, I'm very pleased with the new cover for my best seller Love's Captive. This epic story was 1st published with NCP in 2001 and has gone strong ever since. That's 11 years!!

For new readers, please check out my 1st novel. If I remember correctly, I believe it was the first alien capture story at NCP. Now there are a lot.:)

In 2005 it was reissued as an erotic tale. Love's Captive has received many 5 star reviews. For many months this year it stayed in the "Top Rated Books" section of erotic romances at Allromancebooks. Not sure how long it was there before, but Simon stumbled on it after the 1st of the year.

For reviews, synopsis, 1st chapter, excerpts, and reader comments, see at my website. http://www.myranour.net/bookcode/loves-captive/reviews.php

Here's a sample of one of the really nice reviews I received through the years.

“Myra Nour has taken the elements of science fiction, fantasy and romance, blended them into a seamless tale that keeps you turning the pages. Intense, sensuous love scenes, misunderstandings and characters you'll want to get to know better. Laughter, tears, emotional scenes to give you chills. Myra has a wonderful grasp of imagery, pulling the reader into the story and the beautiful magical world of Volarn, leaving you wanting more.” Mary Kay, Mystic Visions Reviews. Rating 5 moons. Excellent, buy it!

If one of your fantasies is to be kidnapped by a 7' tall, handsome alien warrior, give Love's Captive a whirl. You won't be disappointed.

What makes a man sexy?

Someone recently asked me what makes a man sexy? This was from a friend via the email. It got me to thinking...and I realized this would make a great blog topic.

When I think sexy man I guess the first thing that pops in my head is all the sexy Hollywood icons. There are so many male sex symbols, some from years ago, and of course the present day cuties. Since I'm mature, most of the sexy males I'll mention in this blog are mature too. Sorry, I'm not a cougar, and not attracted to fresh faced boy toys.:)

Mel Gibson used to be at the top of the list for me. It is sad that hard living and alcohol battered his face so much. Road Warrior anyone?

I've watched Kurt Russell since he was a young boy playing in Disney movies (man did I just date myself!). He was a beautiful boy and then young man, and wow did he grow up handsome like all adoring girls would hope. I love him with long hair and a beard (ah, Snake in Escape from NY or the pilot in The Thing), and he's just as pretty smooth shaven with short hair. Sigh, can you tell I have a thing for Kurt?

Sean Connery is another handsome devil who has aged well. I have heard many women when discussing the topic of sexy men, state that "Sean Connery can eat crackers in my bed anytime." He also looks great with a beard.

Once at the airport, I stood behind an older man who looked a bit like Mr. Connery. All the women's eyes kept flicking his direction. You know that feminine thing we do where we try not to look like we're staring. I had the best view and believe me I had my fill of this handsome man.

I guess I can't move on to my next lists without talking about Will Smith. Yeah, he's one of those younguns, but oh so cute. I think it is his cheeky humor that comes out in many of his movies that gets me. That smart alecky swagger that makes you want to pinch his cheeks!

Latin lovers. Gotta love em, right. Yes, for me at least. I love those dark looks. Lisa Kessler's Night Walker is highlighted in my website (for authors & readers) eMagazine - BTS eMag. We asked Lisa to tell us about her hero and give us a photo of what he looked like. Yum, there's a lovely photo of Antonio Banderas. Those dark looks coupled with a sexy accent. Devine! See this interesting coverage of Lisa's book at: www.booktrailershowcase.com. Click on eMag at the top.

There are many memorable mentions for most sexy; Robert Redford, Carey Grant, James Dean, Yul Brynner, Clark Gable, Paul Newman, Harrison Ford, Patrick Swayze, Bruce Willis, Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Johnny Depp to name a few. I know, some people , may not find Bruce Willis especially handsome, not in the classic sense at least. But his sense of humor makes him very attractive to this fan. "Yippie ki yay MF." I love that line.

My two favorite sexy men are Kurt Russell, which you can tell from my above homage. And the other is Clint Eastwood in his hey day. Give me one of those tough, mysterious cowboys please. Clint's spaghetti movies are drool worthy just to watch him. Since I love adventures and action movies too, I actually really like these movies. Two Mules for Sister Sara is my fav.

But what makes these men sexy? Physical attributes certainly tops the list, whether it be rugged, suave or boyish good looks. Each woman has a type that titillates her senses.

Every one of these icons have qualities that set our pulses racing, provides us with fodder for fantasies, and authors with sexy and interesting characters. Beside their handsome looks, we inately look for more substance like charm, a sense of humor, intelligence, fighting skills, a knowledge about women, treating women like women, and exuding confidence. Some have sweet personas while others exterior's are tough and barely penetrable. But don't we women love a challenge?!

As I was getting ready to wrap this up, I realized there is one element to certain males that can push them into drool worthy even if they aren't much in the looks dept. Music ability. I was remembering a boyfriend, who happened to be very cute, playing the guitar and singing to me. Sigh. Now that was something that could melt you panties off.

There are so many qualities that can make a man attractive, this blog could get really loooong. But I'd like to stop here and ask for comments. Tell me what makes a man sexy to you?
